Hello '82. Hope all is well as we begin the new year. Tom Lynch sends news from MI. He has been commanding the 2nd TS
Bn 337th Regt at Selfridge ANGB, MI since March '99. From across the Pacific Ocean, we get a brief update from Scott Stevens, x-'82. When he worked for IBM, he visited NY regularly and always stayed at the Thayer. Last time was there, he saw Army's 58-52 OT football victory over Louisville. He keeps in touch with plebe yr roommates Joe Bailey and Al Phaneuf, x-'82. Scott and his family are now are on temporary assignment in Hong Kong, as he is managing communications for Motorola's Asian semiconductor operations. He and his wife have two sons, Cole (6) and Will (4) and a daughter Jen (3). Brad Reinhart sends news about fellow G-1'ers: Phil Bond left active duty and got promoted to Major two days later. He is now living in Dearborn, Michigan, where he works as a manufacturing specialist for Ford Motor Company. He works on safety, ergonomics, quality, and cost control. Holly (Getz) Grange left the Army in 1990. Her husband Dave retired from the Army last year. He is working for the McCormick Tribune Foundation and they are living outside Chicago in Winfield, IL. The Granges have two boys, David (12), and Matthew (10). Kevin Tate is on active duty and working in a District Engineering Office in Virginia. Jim Murtagh finished his Doctorate and is teaching at RPI and working as a consultant. He and his wife Mary Pat have been back in their hometown of Waterveliet, NY for several years now. Brian Layer is a Bn Cmdr at Ft. Campbell and will change command this summer. Brian and his wife Ella have two children. Walt Leberski is a high school teacher in Las Vegas, NV. Brad found this out because his uncle works for him. The first day he walked onto his new job, his uncle came in and greeted him as "Rhino," his West Point nickname. Small world! Steve Thompson is a program analyst with Verizon in New York. He has had the same job for a few years, but has worked for several different companies due to acquisitions. According to Brad, Steve has promised to resurrect the "Old Grad" for the next reunion. David Craig is a systems analyst for Gander Mountain and works and lives in the Twin Cities, MN. Dave Thomas is working for McDonalds and currently lives in Houston. Steve Townsend just finished a tour in Korea and is now assigned to the Pentagon. He is married with 4 children, ages 12, 11, 9 and 6. He has traveled a lot through South America, Australia, and Asia. Denis Lambert is still a transplanted New Yorker living in Dallas, TX. He and his wife Lynn have two children, Kelly and Casey. Denis works for TSC, a software consulting company. Class Prez Les Knotts reports that he and seven other members of the Select Few returned to USMA to participate in the 15-mile road march of the New Cadets from Lake Frederick to West Point. Marchers included Holly (Getz) Grange, Chris Adams, Paul Merritt, Larry Tosi, Mike Schwed, Lindy Buckman, and Class Veep Ellen (Groschelle) Houlihan. Holly traveled 800 miles to participate, Chris came 175 miles, and Ellen drove 250 miles. Lindy is a Regt Tac, so she had no choice. Les says he had to monitor the chow, so he tromped along, too.
