It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of 2LT David R. Lodwick, son of classmates Bill and Lynn (Fox) Lodwick.

Fellow Classmates,

I sadly report that 2LT David R. Lodwick, the son of Bill and Lynn (Fox) Lodwick and graduate of the Class of 2007, died on Sep 29 in Lawton, OK from injuries sustained after being struck by a car.  Funeral services are scheduled for:

Monday, 15 October 2007
1330 hours in the Old Cadet Chapel at West Point
Followed by graveside interment at the West Point Cemetery

Please remember Bill, Lynn and their family during this difficult period.

Thanks for all of the support. Lynn and I are certainly in shock but have been supported by an amazing response from family, friends, West Point, and the entire Army Rugby family.
 
Here is the text of the obituary to appear in the local papers here in Indiana. It includes a memorial service this Saturday.
 
I have included a picture from the Rugby team bar pinning ceremony following graduation.  David lived life to the fullest and will continue to touch all that he knew for the rest of our lives.

David R. Lodwick, 22, New Palestine, died early Saturday morning in Lawton, Oklahoma.
 
Born April 20, 1985 at Fort Stewart, GA, he was the son of William R. and Lynn F. Lodwick. A 2003 graduate of New Palestine High School, he graduated from the United States Military Academy in May, 2007. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army and was attending the Field Artillery Officer’s Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma at the time of his death.
 
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Lynn, sisters, Beth and Barbara, grandparents Donald and Barbara Lodwick and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
 
There will be calling at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church in New Palestine on Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 pm. Calling will be followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the David Lodwick Scholarship Fund, administered by the Hancock County Community Foundation.
