A list server is a simple tool that rebroadcasts messages to all subscribers. Much like a magazine subscription, every time a message is published, it will be sent to all members for whom there is a valid e-mail address. If you are a graduated member of the USMA Class of 1982, please read the information below. If you are a former cadet, please see the Information for Former Cadets. For all other inquiries, contact the Web Master USMA1982 List ServerThe USMA1982 list server exists to allow classmates to maintain contact and share information that all of us can reasonably be expected to either be interested in or to at least tolerate. The moderator cannot (and doesn't attempt to) predict in advance what the class will tolerate. Occasionally, the moderator may suggest that conversations be taken "off-line" - that is, the individuals concerned should e-mail each other directly rather than use the list. Generally, messages on this list should be short - appropriate for a quick read and legible on a portable e-mail device. By joining the normal USMA1982 list a member will receive all messages from other members as they come in, and can send a message to all subscribed members with a single message to usma1982@west-point.org. To join, click on USMA1982 signup and make a "normal" subscription. The USMA1982 digest consolidates all messages received on the USMA1982 list in one day into a single message that is sent to digest subscribers in the evening. This reduces inbox clutter and allows the receiver to review the messages at their convenience. To receive the USMA1982 digest, click on USMA1982 signup and make a "digest" subscription. USMA1982-FORUM List ServerThe usma1982-forum list server exists to support extended discussions in particular areas that may not engage the entire class, or would be so voluminous as to constitute "spam" in an already crowded inbox. Messages on this list can be about almost any topic, and are often longer and more thoughtfully written. By joining the normal USMA1982-FORUM list a member will receive all messages from other members as they come in, and can send a message to all subscribed members with a single message to usma1982-forum@west-point.org. To join, click on USMA1982-FORUM signup and make a "normal subscription. The USMA1982-FORUM digest consolidates all messages received on the USMA1982-FORUM list in one day into a single message that is sent to digest subscribers in the evening. This reduces inbox clutter and allows the receiver to review the messages at their convenience. To receive the USMA1982-FORUM digest, click on USMA1982-FORUM signup and make a "digest" subscription. Using the List ServersIn order to use either the USMA1982 or USMA1982-FORUM lists, you must first join them. Once you do so, you can reach all registered classmates with a single e-mail message to usma1982@west-point.org or usma1982-forum@west-point.org, respectively. Any mail you send to the list or forum must come from the same e-mail address you provided, or it will bounce. Therefore, it is important to update your e-mail address with the web master if it changes. You will receive a copy of each message sent by other classmates at the address you provide.
